It appears the Firewall in the Pedal Area of Automatic Transmission cars is much different from Manual Transmission cars.
There are no holes cut for the Clutch Pedal Push Rod.
I take it that the Pedal Bracket is universal; the same for both auto and manual trannys.
If so, I'm expecting the Boot screw holes are pre-drilled in the Pedal Bracket (boxed Diagram C). Can you confirm?
And a question about the arrowed assembly: What is it? Do we need it? Obviously the Push Rod Return Spring must anchor to something on the Firewall.
Just hoping someone who has done this on theirs can enlighten me.
Thanks very much.
The hole for the rod was higher than i thought on mine. There was a plug with three small screws that held a plug in place. Once i found the plug and removed it the rod went thru the fire wall and lined up perfectly with the z bar. The three screws were used to hold the new boot on. I had to drill a small where the interlock cable goes thru on the column bracket for the return spring. My 73 is an early one, but should be the same as yours.
