Learning things in obscure posts.....
To Jebby and all the others who help whenever I, and others, ask questions: THANK YOU! I'll continue to try to help others when I have valid experience on a subject. Best, Paul
It is me, Christopher T. McCloskey and I live in Virginia and have never met Jebby in person. I wouldn't mind if the opportunity arose where it might happen. I have never met Jebby but I have the deepest respect for the man.
I am sorry if you don't like the way I write as I was raised by a Diplomat living in Socialist Countries back during the cold war. Some read it, I Lived it. My father taught me to respect people unless they give you a reason not to.
My writing is not a cover for anyone, I do it all by myself...
Jebby offers a Lot of people very high quality help and he doesn't charge them for information he uses to make his living. I am an Engineer by trade and I learn a lot about the carburetors we use here from people like Jebby! I appreciate resources like what Jebby offers us here on the Corvette Forum!
IF you can do better than Jebby why are you not out there offering to help others? After 30 years at the same thing would clearly qualify him as an "expert" in his field. I would trust him over a guy who rebuilt a couple carburetors in whole life, (not meaning you, TCWK)
When I went to Florida to go to College I was under the impression that grey hair meant "knowledge and wisdom", boy was I wrong... Age does not equal wisdom and at no age are you blessed with wisdom.
As for me, I spent time working and building Village Power Systems using Photovoltaic Solar panels, Wind Turbines, Diesel Generators and BIG Battery banks. I know a little about carburetors but I am/was an expert in Remote Village Electrification, Wind Turbines, Storage Batteries andDiesel Generators before I retired early from an accident in the U.A.E..
Lets get back to helping each other and get off this stupid kick. The fact is Jebby deserved that congratulatory post after giving the gentleman great advice (once again!) and got his Corvette working like a champ again. That is what this Forum is all about!
The Corvette Forum is not a place where we attack one another. It is a place where we can get help and free advice when we need it.

And as to why I don't go out of my way to help others, you're reading it, right now.
I have asked for this to stop. If not, I guess this is not the only place...
Excuse me, but I boor easily... Oh, and I won't miss you, ither .)
I should imagine this would be quite amusing...
Any more shills whose ego can not let this drop? Careful, Jebby. You're revealing all your accounts...
Why have you chosen to self-destruct, before my eyes, Jebby? The technical expertise possessed by someone who actually said: "Any carb can be tuned to operate without bog. Has nothing to do with vacuum or mechanical secondaries….." is not in question. Then this? This turbo-obvious charade? Do the words: S I C K P U P P Y have any meaning, to you?
Wow. But my question is, why me? Were you just due to implode... or WHAT?
OK. What can I do, to end this?
Oh, Jebby. You are GOD'S GIFT, to the corvette! And we mere humans who come here to worship owe our lives, nay, our eternal existences, to Your greatness! Thank You, Your excellency. I would be lost, without You! As would we all. As would we all...
Now, GET OFF MY (!)ing CASE!
Now I will tell you a story about a few months back when I was trying to answer a question here asked about the advantages of a roller cam, I basically said they have an advantage over a flat tappet because "they offer more area under the curve" This allows the valve to open quicker and close quicker and that valve to stay more open, for a longer period, Which can allow more air/fuel to be combusted. I was told I was completely wrong and had it backwards. When I offered multiple links to support what ive read and been told and suggested perhaps that person had made a mistake or at least ther was a misunderstanding of what "more area under the curve" meant in the most polite way possible, I was completely ignored and no one else chimed in on the matter either. I had felt as if I just challanged Simba for leadership of the pack or something when all I was trying to do was clear up what I thought may have been a misunderstanding and that kind of blind faith and intimidation is not always productive either.
That said, Personally I think whatever point you were trying to make here valid or not has totally been lost by the way you have chosen to respond. We will never all agree on things as Our experiences vary but we should try to be respectful of each other opinions as well.
And as someone who also fought with a brand new edelbrock/carter 600 carb on my car when I bought it I can concure from personal experience that Jebby is absolutely correct in suggesting the fuel pressure needs to be 6psi or less for it to function correctly.. And after eventually swapping over to holleys for other reasons I can also add that they are a bit more forgiving in this regard and can handle a bit more fuel pressure without issues.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

We have learned a number of things. Let’s review:
- If a member is hell-bent on starting a brawl involving multiple members, telling him to “shut the hell up” is not effective. Contact a Mod or an Admin.
-As well, if you would like a Mod or Admin to intervene, making a post that “maybe a mod could shut this down” might not be read, at least not timely. Please actually contact us so we know whats happening.
-members need to know that regardless of another members attempts at initiating and inflaming conflict, if you choose to engage and participate rather than report it, you are taking the chance that you will be sanctioned as well. This is the essence of troll posting, to draw others in. Take a breath and don’t take the bait.
-I got here to see this because a member who hasnt even posted saw it and gave me a heads-up. When you see a dumpster on fire, please either 1. Click on the Report Post icon, so the entire staff can see it. Or, send me or another section Admin or Mod a PM with a link and it will be addressed promptly.
Thanks everyone for your co-operation and helping staff in cleaning up spills in Aisle 5.
