Default 492 heads, again

Because who can let a host of dead threads die? Posit, differences, if any, between a "3991492"/"GM 54" stamped head and a "399 492"/GM 53" stamped head?
See the new head below with the 7digit stamp and the other in situ head recently that I ran across while trying to ID a in period CE stamped replacement engine.

Hi FST. Not exactly sure what you’re looking into. I’m assuming you mean the “1” is missing in the part number and does it have to do with being CE stamped engine?

I just pulled my intake and it’s going back on tomorrow but I’m running 492 heads. Pics of stampings. I don’t know the history behind these particular heads. Help?

Yes Dino,
I haven't run across a head stamped like this with only 6 digits with a space in the middle. They have the hallmarks of the "492" head that can be seen while installed. I'll be curious to see what lies under them.

Yes. Curious to know what you find. Likely 202s and 64cc chamber. But you never know. The obvious reason would be a worker at the foundry just left the 1 out, but it’s not a date stamp or like an engine pad stamp with continual changes being made by workers. Also, doesnt look like some material was blocking the 1. I’ve also never seen a missing digit on an engine block casting number. Odd.
