Replacing the bulbs and flexible circuit board in my dash panel and when I took it apart I noticed a red wire(top left of pic below) hooked between the 2 lamp sockets for low fuel and the battery. Any idea why that may be there? I did not take a clear picture of which terminals it connected. This is a 1980. I looked at the wiring diagram and could not find it on there either. If it is supposed to be there do you have a clear photo of which terminal it attaches to? I can't believe that is from the factory so maybe it was jumping power from one terminal to another because of a bad circuit??
Your Wire Colors May Be Different the photo below copies my 1977.
1977-1982 used the same PCB Board.
When you replace the PCB there would be no need for that jumper.
Me thinks the circuit path was broken between #11 at the low fuel light (Switched Ignition Power) and #11 of the GEN light.
#11 feeds multiple items.
Easy enough to readout once you pull the Low Fuel Module and jumper wire.
Thanks for the info. I looked at the circuit and it was broken between the 2 lights. So with the new board I have I threw out the red wire as there is no longer a need for it!!
