Just a question, i convert my 69 Conv corvette from TH400 to 200R4. I buy a level2 transmission.
I see on the manual that i need to connect one wire to the +12v brake relay (when pedal is pressed). But if i connect it, i can heard the relay when turn signal is ON.
I connect the transmission cable to the harness behind the stop light.
i used this wiring diagram - TH2004R wiring for TCC lock up I added an additional manual switch between the brake switch and the battery to override the system if I wanted to.
brake and turn signal lights are somewhat wired together. as long as the relay does not mess with the turn signal lights, the only downside is TC will unlock when you hit turn signals. you are at that point either slowing down to turn or accelerating to pass. in both cases, unlocking TC is between a good thing and necessary. maybe running a diode somewhere in that system could stop that, but i think hearing the relay clicking with turn signals is the worst that is happening.
you need a brake switch with cruise control , TCC works the exact opposite of the brake light switch , hitting the brakes should cancel cruise control not power it up . then use a factory 1980 TCC Vacuum switch hooked up to ported vacuum while the power wire (from cruise control vacuum switch ) feeds the TCC solenoid inside the transmission pan when vacuum is in the correct range . I hook the ground wire of the TCC straight to 4 th gear pressure switch and from the 4th switch to a Valve Body bolt for ground ......
Recap , so fused 12 volt power goes to the brake/cruise control switch , from there the 12 volts it goes to vacuum switch providing brake is off , if vacuum falls in the 2.5 to 6 inch vacuum then the 12 volts is directed to the TCC solenoid where provided 4th gear switch is activated the TCC locks up , tap your brake or vacuum falls below or above range or out of 4th gear then TCC unlocks
yes that will work and yes , double check with a ohm meter , with button selected with the "out position" brake light contacts will be continuety while cruise control contacts will be open
