I was in the process of a complete tune up on my 75 and on the passenger side it looks like the starter needs to come out to access the a hidden bolt for the long U shaped shield. Is this correct?
You should be able to access the shielding bolt by just removing the starter brace.
But, to get new wires secured into the lower 4 wire rubber grommet it is darn near impossible to do it with the starter in place.
I chose to remove starter last time I built and replaced wires.
I've changed my wires twice now. have had my car for many years. bottom line, as easy as it is to pull the starter. And as how hard it would be to try and work around it, behind it as the case may be. I just pull the starter.
FYI....you can get to it very easy with a mini-starter installed......if you have to pull it anyway, just sayin', nows the time to think about it......
