Steering column issues... moves up and down when steering left or right
Hi Fellas,
I purchased 1981 C3 last Saturday from North Carolina, hauled it all the back to Northern Virginia. White, loud, and beautiful. I have been going over the car last few days and noticed that when steering wheel is turning left or right, this part below (lower column mount??) with two bolts moves up and down. Its moving my dash a little up so it is making dash rubbing noise. I went under the car and felt the plate that is connecting the steering wheel to the firewall. That piece is also moving when i push up and down. the two bolts feels like it's not a HEX bolt. It's feels round in shape. Is this something I can fix? ? I don't want to start turning any bolts and start breaking things without asking. Car has Steeroid kit. Thank you.

If you can't get a socket or wrench on them to tighten them use a small vice grips. There is a plate on the other side of the firewall with fixed studs so the hex nuts just need to be tightened on the inside.

oh man, thanks for the reply. Wish I was a hobbit size some times. It’s a tight *** fit under the dash. Thank you again Greg.
