distributor CAP material
Distributor cap material. Is there a big difference between Alkyd or Rynite????
My set-up is an MSD distributor with a manual tach drive, MSD unit and MSD coil.

Alkyd is supposedly more brittle. Rynite is used by MSD for the injection molding flow properties, durability and electrical properties.

Rynite is a trademark registered to dupont for a glass-fiber reinforced PET.
Alkyd is a chemical name for a somewhat different, older, less modern polymer resin.
JMO, In terms of durability & performance within auto ignitions; I doubt there's a gnat's azz diff between the two. True, alkyd caps & rotors are somewhat more brittle than Rynite. YMMV
fwiw, I purposely repainted both interior & exterior floors & decks at my near-century old farmhouse with alkyd enamel paint. Very High durability from an Very old paint.
