Did it again, bought a car I didn’t need and now going to do another restore.
It is a 71 Vert, small block.
The front nose is 6 inches higher than my wife’s 72. There is no engine in it, but 6 inches is a lot. Haven’t removed anything yet, but it looks stock. I’ve pulled many engines and never had a car jump up that high. Looking for ideas on where to start. The coils look stock and again everything else does too.
Thanks,
Jim.

The front suspension only has 4 inches of vertical movement at the wheel well. Then it hits metal to metal; a-arm to frame. And that would probably only happen if the bushings were shot and the upper rubber bump stops were missing. Not even sure if the shocks even have that much stroke. Are they missing too?
Measure the wheel well lip and let us know. 27.75" there is std, full tank, no passengers.

Hi Leigh, hope your frame off is coming along nicely.
I did notice the passenger upper control arm is touching the frame, driver’s still has a little room. First thought the frame was bent. When I get home I can measure the wheel well height.
For now.....how about putting some sturdy boards across the frame rails to support as you get into the engine bay...have your wife or a friend take a measurement from the wheel well lip down to the floor.
Maybe you could get a friend to also get in the engine bay....add your two body weights together....take a measurement to get reference points for total body weight and for total fender drop.
