Default 78 fuel tank

Hello, replacing my fuel tank on my 78. The tank I
received has a do drill or modify sticker. But the area where the t-valve should be installed is also sealed. Do I still need to install. Please see picture

No.
That's for a vent between the steel tank and plastic liner.
Your new tank has no liner, no need for that vent.

DB,
FWIW make sure you have/keep all of your parts from the original tank.....Unless you've purchased the new tank as a total install kit..
Been there on my 78!!!

Just curious - if you can would you take a picture of the insides? Wondering if it is coated with something from looking at the outside.

Hmm, the tank for my '79 from Corvette Central had one-way vent valves tied to that port.

Installed the tank with almost all new parts. Changed out the fuel pump, and got her started for the first time in 30 years
