I need wires for my 72 that has an HEI distributor and wanted to get everyone's opinion. I have the stock manifold and assume I need to route the wires the way the factory routed them. ALTHOUGH, that is a PITA and I'm not sure it wouldn't be better to route of the top. Of course then I have to worry about heat. Any suggestions on wires and routing? Anyone have any photos of routing over the top with stock exhaust manifold?
I use the cut your own 73057 Taylor wire set and their cut/crimp tool......

What isn't a PITA to do on a Vette? It's worth the trouble to run the wires under the manifolds. I just replaced my wires with AC Delco 608D. The fit was perfect with the HEI and wire retainer. In the "1982 MY problems & solutions" sticky you'll find what length wires go were which saves you from a lot of trial and error. You may want to replace the the motor mounts while you're in there. Anchor 2285 is what I used from Rockauto. No fitment issues nether. You also may like to have the spark plug wire grommets on hand too. I wish I did.
