Default 1982 Motor Swap Question

I'm sure this has been discussed in great detail.I just can't seem to find a itemized list of parts or things to look out for. I am removing my CFI original 350, and swapping with a mild SBC 350 with greater hp, carb.

Can anyone direct me to resources I can use to assist my mechanic to ensure everything is installed, adjusted correctly? I am aware of the cfi to carb, possible tranny fitment and shift issues, as well as the ecm use.

I want to ensure everything from the oil pan, to the water pump pulleys all will work. Trying to really be prepared prior to being elbows deep in the project and having to order little parts and avoid delays. Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

Can you post a link to the actual engine you are installing?

Going to a carb IMO is not the way to go if you don't want to keep the CFI anymore. I would go EFI if anything. What is wrong with your motor?

How are you getting fuel to the new engine? Some carbs are very sensitive to fuel pressure.

Adding a third pedal will eliminate a lot of transmission complications.

Are you replacing the exhaust, too? Or at least changing or modifying the transmission crossmember, to faciliate a true-dual exhaust in the future (not a concern if you go to sidepipes).

The ECM stays to manage the fuel pump, it automatically shuts it off if no run signal from the engine, at least mine does, really handy in case you have an engine issue or flip the car, the pump will stop feeding a potential fire. You will want a bypass type fuel regulator and use the return line already in place. You should do something to the 700r4 trans to provide a lockup in OD, or it may overheat, either the Electronic setup from B&M or the 4th gear pressure switch, I ended up with a new TC for better stall and lock up. Also trans related, you will need the proper mounting bracket for your carb that supports the existing accelerator cable along with the proper geometry for the trans TV cable..Very important... I got the one from BowTie overdrive.... Plan on headers and True dual exhaust, don't need a new cross member if you route them both under the passenger side.

You will not have shift issues. In fact you will cook the transmission if you do not obtain the correct linkage bracket & Cable and properly adjust it. The 700r4 has a TV cable which looks like a passing gear cable from previous years. And is often mistaken as one. The best one I have seen comes from lokar
