Default 1975 steering column

Good Morning all
I have a 75 4 spd. non tilt, non telescoping steering column. like to see if anybody has any ideas, with the seat all the way back steering wheel is uncomfortably close, makes it hard to get in and out and being I am 5' 8" tall it also is at about my maximum reach to fully depress clutch, my wife likes to drive the car also and she is shorter than I am so it is really a stretch for her. It is my understanding that telescopic columns are getting hard to find. I have also looked for aftermarket telescopic columns , but dont see any available, tilt would help with getting in and out but not address length issue. have considered installing smaller diameter steering wheel to allow sliding seat up a little. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You in advance

I installed a 14' wheel and a 32" tilt aftermarket column. The smaller wheel gives more room, the column is closer to the dash, and the tilt makes it easier to get in and out.
I actually had the stock T/T column in it before, but too many pieces broke / wore out inside of it for it to justify fixing in my opinion.
I didn't want to tear it down, spend several hundred dollars on parts, reassemble it only to have some other 40yo piece wear out.

Another idea depends on your fabrication skills.
You can re-make the one you have. Once you determine how much closer to the dash you want it, it can be made to work at that location.. But again, its dependant on what you have the ability to build, or have someone else build for you.
I think bottom line is, what are you willing to spend for a solution, (in time and ca$h).. .. It can be frustrating.

I am using a 1979 C3 TT column cuz they’re ~2” shorter than my 71 column.

This is a good thread about fitting a 1978-82 TT column in an earlier year. Jim Shea has a good paper on this within the this thread.

Cheers,
Richard
