After pre-installing my door weather-stripping, my door would not close completely. I attributed this to a poor quality product. I was able to return and purchase the top of the line, OE, weather-stripping which was much softer and pliable. After installing this new weather-stripping, the same result occurred.
Has anyone had a similar problem or have an idea on why this is happening and how to correct? The front of the door seems normal and the binding seems to occur at the front end of the door. I also readjusted the door jam catch to the inner most position but it did not help.
I will attach some pictures that might aid in figuring this out.

Thanks
I think you have it in too far to shut correctly.

Does it shut flush if you push it in hard enough?
The door mech has 2 positions to shut the door.
The first is just a click to catch the door
The second is the properly shut.
Maybe your jamb pin is now to far in now. the mechanism is not hooking up to the 2nd position.
Interesting. Not sure how to answer but it did lead me to try. What I discovered is that there was a significant difference in the door closing depending on the position of the jam pin. Kept changing it and finally got it to an acceptable point. It was clearly related to the pin even though it closed totally flush before installing the weather stripping. I may mess with it a little more later but it's now only open about 3/32" beyond where it should be. I might scribe the current location of the pin and try again but don't want to make it worse.
Thanks for the tip. Would never have thought of that on my own. Very much appreciated.
Those weather stipes take a while to compress when new. Adjust the striker so that the door closes all the way with a very hard slam then leave it alone for a few days. You be amazed how smoothly it opens and closes after that.

Thanks, Will do. I did in fact correct the door by pulling it in another 3/16" to make it flush but I was concerned about how hard I had to slam the door to close it properly. I'll let it sit for now. The next problem is the window adjustment. Need to do some research to determine how to properly adjust and make it run a little smoother as it appears to be binding somewhere.
Thanks again.
Yes, adjusting them is a pain. There are some good articles and videos on that subject, just Google it. I used the witness marks from where the bolts were originally and got pretty close. I took all of the tracks and rollers out and cleaned and re-lubed them and the worked much smoother. Mine are power so that was fun, too.
I lubed my wx stripping and it was all that was needed to allow the rubber to find it's home.
Vasoline can be used and then keep the door closed till the rubber takes a set
