Default 75 original fan setup

Good afternoon guys,

would appreciate some help from guys with stock setups.
So my 75 vette has a flex fan set up, with about a 3 inch spacer off the water pump.
I would like to go back to the clutch setup.
I found an ac delco oem clutch replacement and a 6 bladed fan that fits a 75 vette.
I’ve been trying to find pictures of what stock looks like, but is that all I need? Is there any spacer that is stock to the 75 vette?
I also do not have the top shroud, only the bottom shroud, but I do not anticipate cooling issues. I replaced the stock radiator with a aluminum 4 pass. Ever since then the temp has never been above 180ish.
Thanks!

The stock shrouding is one piece. If you only have half, someone befor you cut it in half.
When you install the factory fan, half the fan blade should be into the shrouding to provide proper cooling, ( as well as ALL foam and chin spoiler ).
I'm sure someone has a pic for ya.....

You might want to look at some Hayden fans too. Quality clutch fans! Have one on my 65 455 Gto and is 100% better than my flex fan was! Sounds like a C130 taking off but really cools ! Wilcar

Seems like I have no shroud at all then! I just have a piece of plastic that spans from ontop of the front crossmember to the bumper. It use to having overheating issues, obviously from the lack of ducting, but the large aluminum radiator fixed it. Been on 5 years now and have had zero issues.
the spacers on the flex fan put it about one inch away from the radiator. I know the stock setup won’t be as near. I’d rather not use any spacers

Thanks I’ll look into it! They seem to be a little cheaper than ac delco as well

The Hayden Thermo clutch is a good piece. That...and the fan is all you need. I have a 5 blade and thermo clutch on my 72' 406 with a stock rad and W/P......190 temps in the South Texas summer.....

See if this is what you need! It comes from the newly published NCRS 75-77 technical information manual.

Hello randallsteel,

The original fan setup for your '75 had no spacer(s). All you need is the stock fan clutch. The OEM clutch assembly included a shaft which projected the fan blade and fan clutch the proper distance into the radiator shroud. See below:

Red arrow = attachment to water pump Green arrow = attachement to fan blade Pink arrow = front of car

Fan clutch and fan mounting

You did not mention if your car has A/C or not. The correct fan for an A/C car has 7 blades, for a non-A/C car it has 5 blades.

Let me know if you need additional pictures.

Hello interpon,

You may purchase the recently published 3rd edition of the NCRS Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide from the NCRS store at the link below:
https://www.ncrs.org/shop/index.php?...roducts_id=217

It has 266 pages devoted to 1975, 1976 and 1977 Corvettes and is an excellent resource.

OP's car is a 1975. For 1975, the radiator shroud is one piece. The extension is one piece. They are assembled together as depicted in the pic below:

Red dot = Fan Shroud. Green dot = Fan Shroud Extension

In the link provided earlier, Top Flight P/N's 51798 (shroud) and 51799 (extension) represent the original pieces.. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of their reproductions, though. P/N 29040 is incorrect for a 1975

Thanks for the help guys! Thanks 73&75 for the pictures, I wanted to make sure that’s all I needed before spending $100 and have to deal with returns. I’ll go with the Hayden as well, seems to be the popular vote. I’ll go to ace hardware to find some hardware that’ll work with it

Correct. They are counting the extension as the second piece.

for 1975, pilot shaft extending forward from water pump should have 3/4" OD. Ensure your New clutch fan also has 3/4" ID pilot hole.

Where do you live? I have a fan, clutch and shroud. I swapped over to a C5 fan setup. I am south jersey moving to Florida. So if you are anywhere near I95 between Phila and Miami should be doable…. Oh yeah: free.
