Default Anyone use Blackstone?

Too early for me to contact them
Want to get a written oil and trans fluid analysis on my daily
Worth it? if you have true internal damage will it spell it out (for ins co) or not?
Cost?

Its fairly popular on the ecodiesel forum I belong to as main bearing failures are common on that engine. The consensus I've gotten there is the oil reports are very useful in determining the condition of the engine. Theres a couple guys that have been able to use it to get a heads up that they should trade thier trucks in before any otherwise noticeable issues came up.

Default Blackstone

Have used them in the past, report was detailed with what was going on with my engine from what the oil could tell, I felt it was worth it, small price for some early detection.
Currently waiting for additional reports to come back.

Blackstone is an excellent company to deal with, I have my oil analyzed at every oil change. I think the current cost is about $30.

I get it done on my daily 2018 Ram since I got it new. It’s good for early detection but also to verify the oil quality of certain oils now a days. Since I’ve started they have encouraged me to extend my oil service miles since the oil is in good shape and engine wear is low. I am now pushing stock oil change interval of 5k with blend oil to 11k with basic not crazy full synthetic and a good extended oil filter. This results in less oil changes and cost overall for myself so they have saved me some money as well.

Read about some who let thier oil go 10k but change the filter every 5
Throwing $ away or not I do every 3k period. Less wear is the goal.
Need to doc the damage on engine..trans fluid is burnt and has some glitter to it
PS is blown out completely...this thing was run hard and baked but a real analysis could tell more

10k isn’t a lot these days with newer motors (higher tolerances and EFI with decent PCV systems). I was pushing 7k for a full synthetic with a decent filter and that’s where Blackstone said the oil is holding up fine and has some life left in it and to push it to 11k. I always tell them my oil coming out and what I’m putting in it plus filter so they can advise based on that. On an older gen 1 SBC or BBC especially with carbs you get lots of fuel past the rings and contaminated the oil which reduces the oils effectiveness and it’s properties. With a carb you are less likely to be able to run extended oil changes like 11k and u would likely be maxed out around 7k. In my fun cars the oil will never see anywhere near that mileage so I usually change it based on time so like 1 once every 1-2 years kinda thing. I also tend to go with a middle of the road filter as it would be a waste to use an extended mile type filter on a low mile car. Middle class would be the basic red purolator vs the higher end purolator boss 10-15k type filter. Stay away from Fram.

Fram XP are supposed to be real good.
Used Wix since new...swapped to dino 10-30 from syn at 60k...no more noisy lifters.
If you have an Lsx try it. Noticably quieter 1st change. mo later did it again and super quiet
Agree in the fact that todays EFI is so precise being the reason engines last so long. Never rich or lean

I understand many new cars engine/trans arent even rebuildable. Trans sealed units and the engines dont have enough meat to overbore. Use and toss so you have to buy new....or an EV looks like.

Yes, very good. Of course, yours would have been most beneficial if you had both before theft and after data.

Good point..the fact the tailpipe is coated with oil inside and out is an indicator lol.
Prior to even with lots of miles did not have the tiniest bit of soot anywhere.

Decided to drop it off at the local Chevy dealer they are more credible in thier reports.
