Did a search but, not answer. 68 trim tag removed for extensive body repairs. I did several searched for trim tag rivets with no answers. I found a place that sold them for 60's GM cars but, not Corvettes. So, should I just pop rivet it on? Not concerned what so ever with being correct for judging or, any of that stuff.. This is a resto mod type of restoration.
I am mainly trying to avoid someone thinking something jiggy is up because the rivets are incorrect. It is 100% for sure the original tag. The car was yellow at one point but, going back with a red now.
Just pop-rivet them on, if someone says "Hey, that trim tag looks like someone just pop-riveted it on," say, "That's because I just pop pop-riveted it on."
Trim tags used a standard aluminum pop rivet. The VIN were installed with Rosette Rivets. Here is a photo of a 68 Trim tag installed. I use to know what size the rivet head was but can not find that measurement in my files.
