PO installed some really bad speakers. Looks like he used some speaker wire and spliced it to the aqua colored and purple wires. I bought a soundbar I've heard the quality is decent and it was cheap but idk how should I go about installing the soundbar's wiring given the tampered with connector situation. Will I have to splice somewhere? The front speakers have been entirely cut off from the connector.
I'd recommend finding out what's underneath the electrical tape. If the connection is good, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a couple wires twisted together wrapped in electrical tape, fix the splice.
Are you running off of head unit power? If so, the wiring gauge won't matter a whole lot as long as you've got good connectivity.
@Shark Racer Yes, it's head unit power. Forgive me if these questions are stupid I've never done anything like this before. I don't actually know how to plug in the new auto sound speakers. Connection is good but how do I move the connection to these new speaker wires.

do you have factory or aftermarket head unit? ohms are different
This makes a big difference on how your new speakers are wired.
If your current head unit is aftermarket post the make and model number or look it up online for ANY drawings possible.
The coloring of wiring I see from head to traditional speaker wiring (looks like heading to rear) says you have a aftermarket head in there already...
I have been wrong before though...
The red color indicates the gauge wire they were made for, in your case RED = #22 - #16 wiring.
I don't care for any of these Quick crimp (splice style connectors) they are just OK.
You will need a pair of wire cutters/strippers and crimpers to install the new ends to match your new speakers
Or just the cutter/strippers if you have soldiering skills...
I installed this same sound bar in my 79 a month ago. I ran the supplied wiring from these speakers under the carpet, through the middle arm rest/center console up to the speaker wiring harness from the radio. I was also installing an aftermarket bluetooth head unit at the same time so I had a clear diagram of what was left rear vs right rear speaker wire and ground. But the originals looked much the same. I cut and spliced those red crimpy things on those wires and spliced them directly to the corresponding wires in the radio wiring. Hide all the wires.
Mounting was kinda sketchy because you are shooting blind through the carpet, but it works. Take your time and use the youtubez

do you mind posting a picture if you have any of your wiring from the speakers to your new head unit
