I seem to be full of dumb questions - here is yet another. A fellow 'Vette owner highly praised the Zaino Brothers system. This is a "polish", not a wax. So my question: what is the difference between a wax and polish? Why is one better than the other? Is the Zaino Brothers polish (or any other...) better for my paint than a wax.
In the pure sense, a POLISH is used to remove oxidation, road tidbits, and other foreign stuff from a surface - it does not contain any protective ingredients. Typically, you then use WAX to protect the finish you just POLISHED. Based on that, your answer is "you shouldn't compare apples and oranges"!!
However, it seems that the "Zaino's" of the world have blurred this picture and make it seem like you don't need wax. If you really don't then they are more than a "Polish"......
There are protective polishes... wax by definition has some sort of wax in it that it uses to protect the coat. I've never seen a wax that had a design purpose not including protecting the coat, though I've of course seen waxes that polish and protect.
Zaino acts like a wax in that it protects, but as it does not contain any wax, it can not be called one. Some companies offer products with similar purposes that do not contain any wax.

*edit* And as I heard many years ago on the forum, the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked...
