Default 200 4R transmission question

I recently installed a 200 4R overdrive transmission in my 78 from bowtie transmissions. there is solenoid that unlocks the converter that is wired into the brake light switch. when I wired it in the solenoid is being triggered by the 4-way flashers as well as the break switch. has anyone seen this before when installing an overdrive trans?

brake lights, turn signals and flashers all use the same bulds. probably difficult to work around. also not really necessary. turn signals and you are probly lifting up on gas even if you don't hit the brakes. and 4 ways i doubt you need to be going fast enough to lock up the converter when driving with your flashers. what you want is some kind of vacuum or throttle disconnect so you are not locked up under heavy throttle. but their setup may have that covered.

My 79 brake light switch has 2 sets of contacts. One for the lights and one for the cruise control. I used the cruise control contacts to disengage the lockup on my 200-4R.

thank you! That is exactly what I decided to try. After looking at the switch I realized it had the second set to contacts and since I’m not reinstalling my cruise on the crate motor it was being used. The thing I found was though I had to swap the wiring on the trans relay as the cruise portion of the switch works opposite to the brake portion of the switch. Meaning it’s constant hot and goes cold when you step on the brake as opposed to cold then hot for the brakes. After I swapped the wires on the relay it worked perfectly. Thanks gain for your reply.
