I removed my spare tire and carrier for the first time tonight so I could check my differential fluid. I noticed a couple things that you can see in the picture below.
I remember reading that the half-shafts are supposed to be parallel to the ground. These seem to have a slight angle to them - is this OK? My outer tire diameter is about 26", could this be the reason and is it a problem?
Also, it seems that the exhaust pipes are directly blocking access to the bolts securing the leaf spring. I can't see a reason why the pipes wouldn't be located about 3-4" further out allowing access to these bolts. Was this the work of Bubba or is there some logical reason?
Things look pretty normal back there. Have you ever had the rear aligned? I can't see what kind of strut rods you have, but the adjustables make alignment a lot easier for the shop folks.
I don't know about the shafts being exactly level. It makes sense since the side yokes push in against the center pin or pull out against the snap rings. You wouldn't want them pushing in too much OR pulling out too much.
The pipes should be under the differential's heat shield. Mine are a little too far out; I guess he didn't want to go for the sharp bend there. Anyway, you'll want to drop the exhaust to get the spring out.
Why would you go to all that trouble to check the fluid when you can get to the plug real easy from the side?Angle of half shafts look about right to me.

I wanted to take out the spare tire and carrier anyways to save some weight and clean up the looks of the rear end.
The location of your exhaust pipes looks pretty close to normal. The back two bolts on my spring are pretty much blocked by my exhaust pipes. Now that you have the spare carrier off, you can get under there and do some serious cleaning and detailing. :D
