What is an annular booster????
When refering to high end carbs and nitrous use there is usually reference to using a carb with annular boosters. What exactly is the function of these, and why is it beneficial. Excuse my ignorance. :cheers:

An annular booster is one where the openings that the gas comes out of are located along the inside face of the venturi as opposed to a single spot suspended in the center of the venturi.
The benefit is greater sensitivity to air flow and thus better throttle response and fuel dispersion (or so I have been told)

Annular discharge boosters have a series of small holes around the inside diameter of the booster. Down leg boosters have a singe hole in the inside of the booster.
The advantages of annular discharge is better low end throttle response at the expense of being overly rich at higher RPM. Annular discharge is a good choice when the carb is to big for the application that it is on because it helps low end, and because the boosters are physicaly thicker they tend to restrict flow at higher RPM.
Annular discharge boosters are a good choice with nitrous because of the riching effect at high RPM
