I’m in the process of wrapping up the rear suspension refurb/replace project and found a note in the assembly manual that says before torquing the strut rods to the brackets, raise the the trailing arms to within 2”. I don’t understand what GM meant. 2” from what, the bump stop? Any one else have a clue?
In the 77 AIM UPC 4D Sheet 3, reference Z, "with rear suspension at a "D" height of 2.21" (See "Trim Heights" sheet in UPC 0)
Trim height sheet is found on sheet A1.
These UPC and sheet numbers may be different in the 79 AIM but they I'm sure are there.

I see the 2.21" but can't determine from what two points the 2.21" are measured from. I suspect that's close to the normal right height, which would make sense.

From the C/L of the the camber (Upper) bolt to the C/L of the lower spindle arm (shock mount) that is dimension "D" + or - .25
Lift rear of car by hand gently 1.5" and release, do this 3 times for both L & R sides.
