Default Fuel

New member and new C3 owner. I have purchased a 1968 convertible with a 427. What fuel should I use? Any additives? The car is scheduled to be delivered next week.

What 427 is it? 390? 435?

The 390 should run on Pump 93 if the curve isn't too aggressive and timing not too far advanced.....
Some will tell you to run lead additive but it takes tens and thousands of miles to beat the non-hardened seats in......
I ran my 427/400 on pump 93 with 37 degrees total timing and about 16 initial......it was fine but WOT in 4th at 50-60 mph you could hear a little spark knock.....

Check your local Sunoco station. They generally have 94 octane. See how that works out. Forget about additives...waste of $.

Try to avoid gas with ethanol. Creates problems with some fuel parts, and if your car sits in storage for an extended period, gas with ethanol goes bad quickly. Also, as mentioned use higher octane fuel.

I have 3 vehicles and i never put any ethnol in my tank unless i travel

As mentioned, if the car sits a lot, avoid ethanol gas. Here's station's that sell non-ethanol gas. Be aware there are different octanes with this type gas also.
