Seems the only size this brand has got left. I was VERY interested in these... when they had a 295/50VR15. But they went disco about 7 hours after they were released. I just think these tires LOOK badass... and i could use that 150MPH rating.
Maybe checkout Futura Gls from Pepboys. They are made by cooper, similar classic tread, but have a simpler looking blackwall.
IMO the Cobra blackwall design are too big lettered and busy looking
The Mastercraft avenger from Walmart are also from Cooper, and they also have a more classical looking blackwall.
These are good choices, although I am now really thinking about the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T 225/70/R15. Not cheap but less than T/A's. I like the speed rating and the clean look on blackwall side.

I just ordered the Mickey Thompson tires. I'm waiting for them to come in to my local tire store. I'll definitely post pics when they get installed.

I've always been a GY Eagle GT fan and have owned my 82 for 30 years. However, since the original GY type tires sold by Kelsey tire are way over priced for what they are, (T rated) I'm switching over to MT Sportsman S/T tires at $171 ea which are also T rated/118mph. The tire review on these tires show that they are a better tire than the FB GR Radial TA tires for ride and handling. I run MT ET Street R DRs now and love em. I guess I will find out how the MT are soon.
BTW...Kelsey bought the rights to the GY Eagle GT tires and GY still makes them for Kelsey, but like I mentioned, they want WAY too much for the tire now for only a S/T rating on that tire. Also, those VR tires would be mine...IF they were not made in China like they are. NO WAY would I use these tires on my vette for any reason. (4) VR rated tires for $536?

So I decided to go with the MT Sportsman S/T tires the other day, BSW out. I didn't like the raised white letters on these. Now the look is completely foreign to me after the last 30 years with GY white outlined letters. Not sure if I like this new look, but it will grow on me. However, I must say that the ride is AMAZING with these tires at any speed so far. I NEVER got this good a ride with GY Eagale rides, ever. So far, I like them for that.

I also got the MT's, will install next weekend. Good to hear how well they ride. And, I like the BSW look, especially with the aluminum wheels. Looks classic, the white letter out is just getting old i my opinion.

I think the look will grow on you. I felt the same way, but after going with BSW out, I have grown to like it a lot. When I see a beautiful car especially a dark colored one like yours, I don't want my eyes to be drawn to the tires first.
Hey DRC,
Here is a pic of my Cobra’s on my 1972. Love them, smooth riding. BTW, going to put on my restored P02’s on this spring. Can’t wait!!!
Good Luck

Great look Mark. I have the Coopers on my 64 Impala SS, black side out. Great tire. Just didn't like the Cobra head design on the black side. So for my 73 Vette decided on Mickey Thompson Sportsman with a cleaner BSW look.
Good choice!!!, a lot of the guys like Mickey Thompson‘s , Me, if I had the choice again, I liked the Firestone - Indy 500, but they don’t make them in my size. I enjoyed them on my 69 L46. I think the BFG tires aren’t as popular as they were. Browning, plus more expensive.
Enjoy your new tires.

Thanks...I'm sure over time I will like them more and everybody that sees the car likes the new look. I sure do LOVE the ride compared to the GY Eagle GT tires that I have always gotten over the last 30 years. I'm sure anyone that has just purchased these will be happy with the ride as well.
The old saying of "You get what you paid for" stills rings true. The new BFG tire's "white" lettering turns yellow and then brown and all you can do is paint them, not interested.
I have a set of Cooper Cobras from the Tire Rack and they leak air out of three of the four tires I bought requiring air be added often (weekly) if you want to drive the Corvette.
I wouldn't race my Corvette on Chinese tires, for that matter I wouldn't go anywhere near 118 mph with them either. If they loose air while parked they would probably let loose at a high speed and I am not taking the risk of ruining my Corvette over cheap tires.
Sounds like time to buy new rims to get decent choice of tires on the Car.
