Default noisy heater fan

Hello forum
the heater fan is fairly noisy on my 80 ...seems the car has been standing outside for a long time. Any suggestion about lubricating the bearings without talking apart the heater assy? I still didn't crawl under the dash, am waiting to remove the seat...but thinking about removing the heater/ac assy doesnt appeal to me.
Any suggestions? Thank you

I would inspect for leaves, vermin etc near the fan. You can see inside from cowl and past resistor for fan.
i do not think bearings are serviceable.

The fan is right below the passenger fender in the engine compartment

The fans arent that costly...Correct? Remove the original without tampering with the under-dash assembly.
It may be as simple as a loose squirrel cage retaing bolt along with leaves twigs etc.
As members said clean the blower box of tras before installing a new fan motor
The definately install a new debri screen to keep the inside of the box clean (I had to scrub the inside of my blower box with detergent to remove the mold....the air really freshened up after the cleaning!

Doorgunner...you are right! I thought I had to remove the whole heater/ac set up, but have seen that removing the fan motor is not so difficult. Will do things the right way, changing the motor and cage. Thank you for the help
