I know there are still quite a few still running the computer carburetor from 1981,and hadn’t had this car a month yet,and BOY have I learned a lot,so want to know how far I can go performance wise without interfering with any type warning or check engine lights, My plans keeping the CCC and replacing distributor, adding long tube headers and different heads.
If your replacing the distributor, your on your way. Then replace the computer controlled carb. Etc.
If you want to keep the computer controlled carb. then keep the entire system and live with the lack of power.
You can not have your cake and eat it too.
If you are replacing the distributor with a 4-wire HEI, you are halfway there already. You should be able to remove the bulb for the CEL without taking your dash apart. You may need to remove the passenger seat to get the angle you need, but you can then reach your hand behind the center console and untwist the bulb socket. Here's a thread with a photo.
But seriously, if you are doing what you propose, follow @4-vettes' suggestion. Revert back to an earlier-spec Q-Jet carb, preferably one with an electronic choke. There are several recent threads where folks have gone through this.
Also, after 41 years,I’m wondering if this computer board is even any good,so want to remove the box and check the board,I’m not sure it’s even working anymore,so is there a way to check and see if it’s working,if so would like to see. Thanks.

You should start searching for 81 specific threads. I think there's some connector you can short with a paperclip, that then lets you count pulses/flashes and check for codes.
I haven't been blessed (cursed?) with an 81, so I haven't looked into it further.
Will have to check and see about the check engine light, but hadn’t noticed switching it off and on,but if the yellow check engine doesn’t appear, that means not mating with the computer?
i don't think you can replace the distributor with non-ccc setup and still run the ecm. it will be lost. doesn't know what rpm it is at. run the whole system or none of it.

Pulled this off yesterday, and you could tell immediately how the engine could finally breathe,lol...so,will let the horses run now.lol talked to Summitt and They have been a big help.
So will be going with AVS2 Edelbrock Carburetor 650,and HEI blueprinted distributor and of course long tube headers and Edelbrock street Aluminum heads.that will wake it up after 41 years.lol
Blue printed to who's engine? Certainly not yours if it's sitting on a shelf! Contact D.U.I. and have one made to suit YOUR engine!
And I don't think much of your carburetor choice. Find a good used, unmolested 75 - 80 Carburetor and have Lars go through it. THAT is what you want if your looking to wake up your engine !
As for blueprinted, not sure this is from Summit Racing, and he got all my information for my block, heads and so on.and he told me this was the best set up for my car. As for that Lars,I have sent him several messages not to mention I want to drive the car Don’t want it sitting a month or so waiting to send a carburetor off and wait for it that could take months.
If you mean DUI Davis Unified Ignition,If I look at DUI on my laptop,it takes me straight to Summit Racing, which are the people that gave me the distributor information, not sure if it’s a DUI,but for $250,I would say it would work good,as for the carburetor there’s a place I found called National Carburetors that have the early model Chevy rebuild carburetors, but they cost as much as a new Edelbrock, not to mention you have to send them your core or charge you an extra $50.00. So,don’t see paying more for a rebuild when I can get a new one cheaper, and it’s over $400.00.
If you put an Edelbrock AVS on the stock intake you will regret it. The required adapter has such a mismatch on the primary side that it will never run correctly.
If you want to use that carb, then replace the stock intake with a 2101 Performer.
And we talked about intakes, and did mention that because to that the corvettes hood was so low, that their wasn’t a lot of options as with intakes,so Jebby, are you for sure this intake would fit with no clearance issues. Thanks
