Default Rebuilding '77 suspension

Hi all. I'm new to the forum and not sure how this works but here goes. I am currently com[pletely rebuilding a '77 L-82 four speed. The frame is about ready to be sandblasted and I am now ordering replacement parts. I don't care about matching numbers. I really want this to be a fun Vette like the old days. The previous owner must have been a mailman because this thing was driven through rain, sleet, hail, snow etc. You get the picture. I have just ordered trailling arms ans some other thingds from Alan at FastVattes.com. Really nice guy and very accommodating, expect to receive the parts this week. I have also received some great frame painting formulas from Lars. I am now about to order the ubiquitous fiberglass rear spring and other assosiated components from Vette Brakes (VB&P) and expect to buy their complete package including Bilsteins. I am looking for a great handling car but don't want to rattle my fillings lose over bumpy roads, or mor importantly, my wife's fillings. I am currently planning to order the advanced street and autocross system but am concerned about the harshness of the ride. Has anyone installed this system on their car and what is your opinion of it? I will be very appreciative of any feedback that you would send. Thanks a bunch, JD. (Save the Wave!)

Welcome to the forum !!
I can't comment on your suspension choices, but I hear that the 'glass spring
will maintain handling while giving a better ride. I have also heard that they
can be 'bouncy', but it sounds like you are buying it with matching shocks - so
it shouldn't be bad at all.

You just missed the big group purchase (I think) for the VB+P front and rear
transverse spring kit. Fully adjustable 'glass leaf springs - front and rear.
You might still be able to get the discount (like 10% or so).

PS - My mailman drove my vette through WAY to much snow and rain.
You're lucky that yours isn't as bad as my 75 was. Some pics of the old girl here:

Hey Dave. Nice to meet you. Thanks for the response. I read a fair amount of info on shock selection. There's a lot more to it than I had ever imagined. Since the package comes with matching Bilsteins I am planning to order the stiffer package from VB&P tomorrow. I'll mention the CorvetteForum and the discount. It can't hurt. Thanks for the heads-up and good luck with the '70. JD

Thanks!

I have mine set up with 460lb coils in the front, stock replacement rear spring (Steel) and Monroe Sensatrac's all around. It's a smooth ride for those Sunday drives with the wife.

I think the 460's are plenty on the front for normal driving as far as I'm concerned. However, if I wasn't trying to keep the car somewhat original, I would have opted for the Fiberglass spring in the rear.

One other thing that makes a big difference is the upgraded front AND REAR sway bars. Keep it flat and snug in the curves.
