I have many wires that go nowhere in the dash of my 1976. My current question is about the yellow wire in the pics, and the "thing" wired to my brake light switch. Continuity check shows the yellow wire, terminal M in the turn signal harmonica to be the same wire going to nothing near the headlight switch wiring. Does anyone know where this yellow wire should go? I can't tell from the wiring diagram I have. And what is this thing wired to my brake light switch? I think I should remove it.
Thanks in advance for your help!
The Yellow wire in the TS connector Cell M is Circuit #18. Left REAR Turn signal lamp.
The loose Yellow wire was pulled out of cell C of Connector C124 of the Main Harness dash side of the rear body harness connector.
This connector is about 5" +- above the Fuse Panel.
Because the wire was pulled out of the Crimp Connector you will most likely need a new one for a 18-20 gauge wire. That F/M crimp connector is a Series PACK-CON 1 GM #12120346.

The cap was installed during production to minimize the pop heard in speakers each time brake switch was made. That cap looks terrible and should be removed.

This Connector C124 Cell C is from a 1977, in your 76 it may be a different lettered Cell?
After further review your 76 connector is a little different A 12 Cell not a 9 Cell, but your rear and side marker lamp circuits still go through C124 connector.

Reason: After further review...
The yellow wires are still attached to the C124 and the left signal works front and rear, however the signals flash slow twice, then fast as if a bulb is out. I will be digging into the loom tomorrow to see if there is an open end yellow elsewhere in the loom. I have a color wiring chart on the way.
I think you may be onto something here. Most of the anti theft system had been removed before I got the car. Looks like the yellow wire may have gone to the anti theft flasher? I can look at schematics all day and still wonder about the location. Does anyone know the factory location for the anti theft flasher? Guessing it was near or below the headlight switch.
This is from a 77 but your line diagram for the 76 does show a 14 gauge Yellow wire one side of Anti-Theft Flasher.
The other wire color(s) at the flasher would have been 2 #18 White.
If in fact that Yellow wire is part of the Anti-Theft circuit looks like that wire goes directly to the Anti-Theft Horn...
I see NO connectors for that wire to land at in the line diagram, it may have passed through the same grommet the radio antenna cable went through and then to horn?
If that wiring existed in my console for the relay and flasher, it is gone. I think someone years ago un-taped the main harness to remove and relocate. If the schematics are representative of general location the 76 alarm flasher may have been in the dash, just not sure. For example see pic. I haven't identified these 3 items. I also think they are not in the factory location. I think one might be the seat belt alarm. (the seat belt alarm wiring seems to be gone too) I am installing Vintage Air and I don't want to leave any factory relays pertaining to the factory heat and air.

I deleted the anti theft horn while rebuilding the rear of the car and seem to remember the wires to the horn having been cut somewhere along the way. The consensus seems to be that the yellow wire has something to do with the anti theft system and thus can be deleted.
So, back to the original where does the yellow wire go.....I unwrapped the loom and found the yellow wire doubled back to the point in the pic. Laid along the loom it reaches to the small gauge wiring. One of my schematics suggests that it could have been the original power wire for the radio. There is no radio plug in the car now. The yellow is hot with the ignition in accessory position, and loses power when I pull the radio fuse. I think by process of elimination we figured it out.
