How do I replace my 45 year old rubber hoses that are attached to the fuel pump without draining my gas tank? I have purchased the new hoses as a safety precaution.
This is where a pair of ramps is a God send. And every C3 owner should have a pair. Faster, safer, than floor jacks & jackstands.
With your car up on ramps this puts the pumps fuel lines higher than the gas tank sender unit. It should not drain on you.
I assume you purchased the pre-formed "S" hose also. Do one hose at a time at the pump to avoid mistakes.
A stainless steel worm-drive hose clamp works so much better than the factory style spring clamp.

Good advice here. Have a receptical underneath to collect any fuel drips, accidents, etc. You definitely want the proper S shapped hoses.
And be prepared for spilling gas..no matter the method..prepare for worst.
i pinched the new line and slipped off old quickly put new on with pinch until ready for other end..
there is a surprisingly lot of fuel in feed line to carb and pump etc..
