Hi everybody I would like to change headlight vacuum to electric what you prefer for me to change or what part we can use from another car I don’t want to buy what they have in website it’s too expensive
Contact forum member Richard454.
His headlight conversion kit is complete and much nicer than any of the vendors.
If you just do a search, you will see the many praises he has gotten over the years.
He can easily answer any questions you might have as well.
Great guy!
I have put together a PDF for a DIY approach. Feel free to email me " richard 454 at comcast dot net " and I'll send over the instructions plus a template to make your own brackets
that is a good dude, when he will give instructions for free to save you from paying him for the same setup. but first, your vacuum system is simple and several fixes are cheap or free. the system will fail not just from vacuum leaks, but also blockages. these cars sat for a long time. bugs build nests in the big lines and the vents on the vacuum relays. vacuum itself does nothing. it just removes pressure on one side of a diaphragm so the atmospheric pressure on the other side of that diaphragm will force the light or wiper door to move. unhook both ends and blow out all the vacuum hoses and clean the holes in the relays that look like smiles in the pic above and you will be surprised how well this system work. that hole provides atmos pressure to raise the headlight. lowering uses the round hole that has the piston in it. and do not suck the hoses to see if they pass vacuum. inhaling chunks of dead bugs and bug nest is unpleasant. don't ask how i know... when your lights go down good and raise very slowly this plugged vent in the relay is the problem. the relay is getting air pressure through a mud wasp nest. there was a piece of scotchbrite-like stuff there called a filter. it left about 30 years ago...

No matter what you decide to do - Richard's instructions will help you understand what's involved... I bought Richard's original bracket kit and sourced my own motors (can't remember if they were the Ford or the Mazda motors) years ago. Never cared much for the fact that the (2) motors were of different vintage and the wiring had been "bubba-ized" so before I ever installed them (still in process on the build) I bought Richard's newest kit with the new GM motors and his wiring harness. They are cheaper and every bit the quality of some of the more expensive corvette vendors
