Throwout bearing or fork pivot?
So my 75 has developed a chirp when the clutch is engaged and the car is in neutral (or when driving). It stops with slight pressure on the pedal and there is no whirring or grinding. I lubed the linkage but while doing so realized the chirp is inside the bellhousing. Its clear as day when shaking the fork - see video - Is this the pivot or could this be the bearing wallowed out and squeaking? Or is there no way to know? Just trying to decide if I can hold off on pulling the trans or if I need to stop driving now and get to work....
Thanks!
Thanks!
if you only hear it when the clutch pedal is in motion moving up or down, it is probably the pivot. You might be able to shoot some lithium grease in behind the fork to lube the ball stud.
A bad throwout bearing would continue to make noise any time the pedal was loaded. There are other problems that make that sound so not 100% conclusive there.

I think it is dry along the shaft......lube not only the ball, but the throwout slide....
Stick a whip from a grease gun in there...give it a couple of shots and rub it in with a long painters brush.....I like Royal Purple grease.

I think you're correct. I lubed the pivot and the sound remains so I'll try your suggestion before I pull the trans. Thanks!
