Okay, I'm probably showing my ignorance, but did a C3 ever come with a digital clock? I'm in a discussion with another C3 owner at work who swears his '77 came with a digital clock in the radio. He also has the analog clock in the center console. I can't see that a '77 had digital anything then, course I've been wrong many times before! No money riding on this thank goodness!

Did they even have digital radios in '77???? I wasnt born untill '79 so it is a little out of my league but my mom had a '86 celebrity that still had an 8 track player so I dont think technology was up to par back then. LOL, that was only 20 years ago, I wonder what my boys will be saying about my cars when they grow up??
Re: Did a C3 ever come with a digital clock? (RMVette)
82 did. A factory oil temp gauge could be had in place of the analog clock. This required the "upgraded" stereo system, with the digital display, thus, digital clock in the radio.
Not sure if earlier yeas were the same, but, if it has analog on the dash, then not likely it came with digital in the radio. Something has been changed, either the console, or the radio.
Re: Did a C3 ever come with a digital clock? (RMVette)
My 82 had a digital clock in the optional am/fm stero (ETR) factory radio. Without this option you got a regular analog clock, with it you got an oil temp gauge instead. The ETR radio was only available in 81-82. So it looks like your friend has replacement radio and you win the bet!!

Digital radios started in 81. When you got an AM-FM or AM-FM stereo radio it was an analog display and the clock was in the center guage panel. If you got an AM/FM stereo with casette/8-track/or CB then you got a digital display with clock and the analog clock in the center guage panel was replaced with an oil temp guage. The same applied for 1982 except there was no AM/FM mono radio available. There were no digital radios before 1981 in Corvettes.

I remember 1977. Back then, we'd all Ooh and Aaah over the early digital watches. You know, the ones with the red LEDs that would appear when you pushed a button. LCDs were just starting to appear, and were mighty expensive!
When I bought my '79 last year, it came with an ETR AM/FM cassette radio and a quartz analog clock. Neither are original to the car. So I sold the radio and did the right thing -- installed a Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD stereo. :D Take that, all you NCRS types!
And don't let nobody :bs you about the early analog CD player in their C3 either! :jester

I remember the early digital watches! I got one for high school graduation in 1975! I'll just continue to humor him on what he thinks is original. He just bought the car and it's original to him...

In 77 You were lucky to get FM in a car. I bought a Craig AM/FM Cassette for my 64 Fairlane (complete with 15 watt amp). Most people thought I really had a sytem. My how times have changed. As far as digital in 77 :bs
