AED Performance gets my vote. They set them up and test run them. I didn't even have to adjust the idle. I bolted it on and during the dyno session all we changed were the jets.

For ease of setting it up while using a AFR gauge the quadrajet/ Edelbrock are simple to do. I hate the fuel bowls being internal. AS for overall adjustability the Holley has a tomn of differnt ways to adjust it, It can be very complicated but with an AFR gauge or a Dyno you can get it fine tuned as long as you understand what variables are affecting which part on the fuel graph
The Holley option is wide open for interpretation as there are some truly **** Holley carbs in their catalog.
300-400hp/300-350 cubes.......Holley Truck Avenger (0-90670) or a nice refurbed Q-Jet. The Truck Avenger is an amazing fuel mixer.
400+ hp /383+ cubes.......Holley 750HP or Holley 750 Double Pumper if you need a choke.
I don't really spec anything else anymore.
I stay away from Edelbrock's because they aren't worth a **** on anything with a large cam and they need a regulator in almost all applications.
Demon's I have had luck with but unsure of the quality now.
The three carbs I spec above are expensive...there is a reason for that.
AED and Pro System's are the bomb for specialty applications like blower or giant cams.
I will tune just about anything except the Holley Street Avenger series.....I even had a run in with the Ultra Street Avenger and it was piece of **** too.....the owner put a 750 Street HP on it and it was night and day.....something is wrong with the main bodies on these carbs....don'r have time to care.
I don't know if they are 'the best", but I really like Holley carbs. I really only have a lot of experience with the 1850 and the 3310, but Holleys are what I like to call "Lego carbs". They all work pretty much the same. They are just easy to work on and tune, parts and rebuild kits are available nearly everywhere, you can find them used for cheap money because there's about a scrillion of the things floating around. Ya can't swing a dead cat at a swap-meet without hitting one. There's about eleventy seven thousand videos online and a veritable cornucopia of books pertaining to workin' on 'em. Plus, they are just kinda cool looking.

Well, of course Holley is going to make some shitty carbs. They are a big company, and they are in the business of giving people what they want. And, a surprising number of people seem to want shitty carbs because they don't know any better.
Those Holley Truck Avenger carbs sure look an awful lot like an 1850, don't they?
