In the real world it should be zero, regardless of the motor or if its the General's, Henry's, or Chrysler. When u get a ZZ4, what u get is what u get...you are at the mercy of the casting and machinists...and 99.9% the deck heights are not even, they vary anywhere from .001 to .009. If you want true deck height, than u have to take the block and have them deck it to 0.
Case in point, my 502 block one side was .007 the other side was .004, so I had the block decked to .001, just to keep the compression down.
