Default 69 restomod rear view mirror question

What’s up guys! I am getting close to finishing my 69 restomod and looking for some creature comforts to add on. Has anyone have a great recommendation for a review mirror with back up camera? It looks like the clip on mirrors may be the best route but wanted to ask the vette community as you guys always know best!

appreciate it!

Can't answer your question directly but I would question the need. I have a C8 with one of those rear view mirror projections and there are some very annoying artifacts due to sampling rate. In the C8, something is definitely needed as the situational awareness towards the rear is very poor. You might check the C8 forum to see who's complaining and why. Myself the biggest thing is that my vision can no longer jump between the road and the "mirror projection". One is distant focus looking ahead, and then in close refocus to something a foot or two next to your eyeballs. If you're young you'll probably be OK.

I'm not sure what you mean by "clip on". Maybe I am answering the wrong question. If you are simply talking about a mirror for just backing into your garage to display on the dash somewhere, that is a very different situation. Those things are very handy, the new car has cameras in abundance. I wouldn't mind one in front for my C3.

Yes, this is for solely backing up purposes. There are a lot options out there for a rear view mirror, some that clip on over your OEM mirror, cell phone, ones that sit on your dash or replacement of old mirror. I am unable to turn my neck (neck surgery’s) while backing up and living in AL there are a lot of roads that are steep when backing out of places, restaurants, etc. so I am looking for some ideas while trying to keep it somewhat original looking inside (nothing on the dash). Some of the threads I found were 3 yrs old so hoping that there is some new technology that some one may be able to reference me to based on their experiences.

thanks!

Gentex makes rear view mirrors with a built in color screen that is activate when the car is placed in revers ( power from backup lights). The camera is small and an be mount on the rear fascia in the license plant area. There are probably a ton of Chinese knockoffs also that are cheaper.

Look on Amazon or use Google to see the various models. On Amazon I saw a mirror with camera for $399, the camera looks like it mounts to the license plate/bracket. You may want to get a different camera depending on how/ where the camera is to be mounted.
