in the process of changing my spark plugs I noticed something very strange. Almost like burnt/cut wiring near I believe cylinder 1 and the starter on the passenger side of the motor. Ill attach some pictures. I was also wondering if its alright that my steel braided hose fuel pump to carb line is slightly against the radiator hose.
They look like clipped spark plug wires to me. Perhaps someone didn't want to run replacement wires in the original configuration, so merely cut off the ends of the old wires and left them.
Those look like old spark plug wires someone just cut off rather than remove the starter to install the new plug wires correctly. As per your stainless fuel line. Tie it away from the heater hose before it wears through. Keep it well away from the exhaust.
I use SS braided hoses for my fuel system on my C3 and I cover them with DEI tube covers and if really hot then they get a fire sleeve over the DEI sleeve.
On my Chevy engines the #1 cylinder is on the drivers side in the front of the engine. On the left side (Drivers side) of the engine it is 1,3,5,7 and on the passengers side from the front the cylinders are number 2,4,6 and 8. The cylinder nearest the starter is #8.
I would agree that it appears that someone did not remove all the spark plug wires but just cut them off instead of taking the time to remove the heat shields and get all the spark plug wires out. I would remove the rest of the wires just to clean things up a bit.

Lol yeah, my bad I totally messed the cylinders up it's near number 8. I am doing headers in the future so I'll clean them up then . So is your SS braided hose resting against anything and is that why you have DEI tube covers or is it just for extra safety
