Default Differential Carrier Shims
The thick shims I have on the outer sides of the carrier bearings are beveled. When I took it apart the beveled sides were facing the housing and the flat sides were facing the bearing race for the carrier. Is that correct, or were they installed backwards?

I orient the shims so the bevel is facing outward, as you have indicated.
