March Serpentine Pulley Issue
I drive the car a couple hundred miles and check it again. Same issue with the power steering pump pulley (Part#612). I order another one and install a new power steering pump from Tuff Stuff as I switch over to hydro boost for the brakes and power steering. I take my time and carefully line up everything with my laser level system. Everything fits great and I adjust the belt to be a bit looser on my belt gauge thinking I had it too tight the previous two time. I run the car another couple hundred miles and now have warped the third pulley.
I contacted March, but have not heard from them. I am in no way flaming March as I really like the look of this kit. Looking at there website, it now shows a bracket for the power steering pump.

So, where did I go wrong? Any suggestions on how to correct this?
Pictures of the pulley set up.
I've used those same pulleys and had the pump pulley develop a wobble but the replacement worked out fine.

Once I switched to the newer pump I ended up with a smaller volume of power steering fluid which then ran much hotter than the original system. The solution for that was to add an External Power Steering Fluid Reservoir that holds an additional quart of fluid and this keeps the temperatures closer to the normal range compared to the old belt drive system.
I hope that you have better luck with your Serpentine belt conversion as the pieces I got from March (directly) started loosing the powder coating in sheets. Today it looks like hell but the people at March don't seem to care about that. I have had problems getting hold of anyone there with "actual" practical experience with their parts. Someone told me later that it is possible to use the newer style pump with a built on plastic reservoir but that also would cause the fluid temperatures to rise. The hotter the PS fluid gets the faster your Rack and Pinion seals will go bad. I have the Steeroids Rack and Pinion on my Corvettes as well and I don't feel like pulling it out to replace the seals every couple seasons. If you do use a reservoir with a smaller volume of fluid then consider an external reservoir as that will really help the system.
I also had issues with the new Pump having either too much flow or too little flow which makes the steering pump squeal and make other noises. I finally got hold of the guys at Turn One and they were able to help me get the right pressure and flow rate out of the pump I am using. Using the newer style PS pump was the toughest problem I had with the installation of the Serpentine belt system. If you do need to add a external reservoir it was easy to plumb using -6 AN lines for the pressure side and -8 AN lines on the fluid return to the reservoir. Once the external reservoir is on the car you simply fill it up to the full level and the system works great with no bubbles in the fluid. I am still paying with the idea of adding a tube cooler on the return lines to get the fluid as cool as possible.
If you run long tube headers like I have on the 427 they are way too close to the PS pump the way March designed the system. The solution was to put insulating covers on the hoses to and from the reservoir and routing them away from the heat from the headers. This is one of the reasons I did not use the plastic reservoir and have the external reservoir as far away as possible. I am about ready to start shopping for an electric power steering system to install on my C3 as that would eliminate the PS pump altogether and that would be very nice....
