Default Does anyone know?

Is there a way to check and see if the in tank fuel gauge sending unit is working properly? I have the fuel tank and the sending unit removed from the car and want to make sure it working ok before reinstalling the tank. It's a 90ohm sending unit on a 75.
Thanks, and Happy New Year

I am taking a guess here.

+, in gauge, out of gauge, to round terminal on sender, outer ground terminal on sender, to - negative.

Thats how it is on my 71.

That way you could check both beings they are both out of car. You could just ohm the sender, but trial now is better than later. And then ohming either, there is no guarantee they will work properly.

If you haven't already, you may want to check the archives. I seem to remember reading about an expected voltage reading at some point. Sorry, I can't remember exactly what.

hey 71, 454, 4speed, ive seen that picture a number of times on the forum but i always wondered exactly what Frankenstein is doing to, or with that engine......Maybe you could clear that up for me. By the way, I so badly want your '71 and your Cobra. Theyre beautiful cars.

The sender should have close to 0 ohm resistance across the terminals at "empty" and 90 ohms at "full".

Yea, not sure what old Franky is doing to that BB. Some might say it doesn't look healthy.
I grafted that pic from a web site that sells crate motors, I thought it gave a nice theme for Halloween, and then never took it off. Thanks for the compliments THawk. The 71 is always up for grabs. ;) Now the Cobra, thats for a buddy of mine. It gets alot of looks, light and quick, and a blast to ride in.
