Default Correct bearing side (diff.)

Hi everyone

What is the correct side for these bearings? (differential L & R side bearings)
Side A: "flat side with stamped part #"
Side B: 'round' side

See pics below...

Side A

Side B

Harbor Freight may not always have quality parts or tools but one tool I bought from them has been very useful for many years. They sell a kit that helps you install bearing and seals without getting them in at a slight angle. The tool is far more expensive from name brand companies so I bought one from Harbor Freight and it has lasted many years now and installed many bearings and seals for me.

There are times when It is worth the extra money to buy name brand and there are times to save a few bucks. HF came through on this for me as it is a fairly simple tool. It is a Maddox MD10-1 and is about $40.

Agreed. Install it so the bearing # is visible without pulling the bearing out of the housing.
