Oh, c'mon Bruce.....they have to be at least a little better than a stock exhaust manifold.
Scotty
I’ve seen dyno results where a block hugger gained minimum HP, 5 or less but lost Torque 2-3 and I’ve seen some block huggers gain both HP and Torque over a manifold but was still minimal amounts in the 3-4 HP. Certainly not enough to justify the cost of the header. Tri-Y headers make huge low to mid range power up to 450-500HP even with 1 5/8@ primaries.. I’ve witnessed 30HP and 17 lbs torque over a set of 4 into 1 up to 6000rpm where the 4 into 1 would finally catch up and pass the HP but I would recommend a 1 3/4” 4into1 after 450 just because most people are looking for that top end power at that point.
Depending on which Blue P. 427 SBC, but the 540 hp has big head exhaust ports which would require 1 3/4 primaries to kind of match the port exit. On my dart and AFR heads I actually had to take a die grinder and open up the Hooker Super comps to port match.
You don't buy a 427 and then purposely try and decrease the HP?

See, you said "zero performance". You were using hyperbole.....sometimes it doesn't come across very well in print. Anyway.....the block huggers ain't even very much lighter than the cast iron manifolds, too. I was surprised by that when I put my block-huggers on over ten years ago. Cut me some slack, I didn't know any better!
thanks for the reply . the reason i want block huggers is because i have made my own link up pipes for the side pipes i have . i have the patriot 60" long that i have also raised to give me more clearance . cannot use long tube headers they will not work with my set up . i have the sanderson block huggers at the moment but have trouble with the plugs being very tight
