I'm new poster in this forum. I have been building my 1968 C3 for some years and this forum has been a great help for me.
Replaced complete drive line for 572 engine which I lowered and pulled behind, put Tom's 12 bolt diff, 6-link with coil overs, rack and pinion steering etc.
Due many changes made I'm not able to use original parking brake system so I put Lokar floor mount parking brake handle with Lokar dual brake cables. I got it assembled but I cannot pull enough to get good brake tongue. I wonder how much pulling force it is needed for parking brake lever to create enough torque? The original hand brake is not easy lever as this Lokar one and likely creates more pulling force. I have Van Steel trailing arms with brand new brake assemblies from them. Any ideas?
Hi, yes I adjusted brake shoes. I tried to adjust very close to the drum but it did not helped.
Then I loose so that there is different angle for the brake lever but did not find a good result.

you pretty much have to have them set so the drag a bit for them to work, then they have to be bedded in. If you have the 68 AIM it ex0lains the force requiired to pull it u0p , IT gets harder as it goes and it should stop at about 10 to 11 oclock.
The shop manual has the procedure. I bought a fish scale to do the final measurement. It calls for 80 lbs of effort at click 14, or something like that. Ill post it of I find it.
Short answer, I've passed the Virginia safety inspection several times. Long answer, I'll be buying the Wilwood electric calipers soon.
I have not heard about the burnishing process, I'll try that.
If not helping I'll make a lever mechanism to double pulling force from the Lokar handle to the cable, simple to do but a bit challenging to find room for that.
