I'm leaking around the back of my oil pan and I suspect that it may be the rear main seal.
It's a '69 427. I know I built it with a 2 piece part 15+ yrs. and 27k miles ago when I rebuilt the engine, but I have no idea what part # I used.
So, what are my options today.
I've read about offset seals, twin lip seals, etc.
What to use?
I like the Viton seals like the Felpro 2918. You should only need an offset seal if the crankshaft has a groove worn into it.
When I rebuilt my LS5 back in the 90s, no offset BB main seals were available. I ended up buying a new LS7 crank, which were fairly inexpensive at the time.
