As I remember the cage is allowed in BSP. SCCA IT race cars are classified in Street Prepared, and come with the entire cage. I don't think we ran the cage through the fire wall when we were autocrossing, but did it later roadracing. Funny thing is, it runs in ITE, and could come back through the IT window (now with cage running through the firewall). See you at the track

My car is BSP for SCCA and has been since the mid 80's. Our tracks here are fairly fast one miles with 18 turns. The top cars get going in the mid 80 mph. Many years ago there was allot of complaints about courses being too biased to tiny cars. Like when a prepped Miata is a couple of seconds faster than 600+ hp all out gt1 road racing machine.

Your rear gearing depends on your tranny type. Manual tranny's have a big advantage over autos

Our SCCA autocross course is setup by a vette driver so we usually have a very good course designed NOT to be one sided towards the smaller imports. I work 3rd shift tonight but when I get off at 6am I am headed out to have a litte fun on the track. I have decided to go with the VB&P package if they will let me pick the spring weigths and maybe the sway bar sizes. I like cost and the combined shipping charges. I don't know if I am ready to alter my car to the point of installing a roll cage but I agree I need to find a way to stiffen the frame. I saw a post where they filled the frame with an expanding epoxy to stiffen it. Has anyone heard anything about that?

My major decision and hardest is still what to do with the motor and rear gear.

Well enough of this typing I need to change the oil before tommorow

Thanks
Tony

How hard is it to change the rear gear to a 3.7 in my m20.

Thanks

i'd call around to shops in your area. If you have lots of miles on your original rear end it might be better to just pay for an exchange pumpkin in the gear ratio you want. I haven't looked in a long time but it seems to me places like midamerica, rikesvette, tomsdifferentials. all have units for $600 something with your core. Then all you need is new better yokes and it's ready to stuff in.

You can get lots of money wrapped into a top of the line stock type rearend. But if you do it with a few upgrades they seem to really last. Sm0kedtires and myself both have a couple thousand in the rearend. Custom yokes are $450 a pair and just the posi unit is $700.

I have found that 3.55 gearing is about the best all around without OD. Go to http://www.smokemup.com and figure out what you really need. Hey have a good weekend! I'm going to the shop now to thrash on my vette. I'm tuning it up for a weekend of road racing.
