Looking to replace the coil on my 68 convert 327/350hp as part of a tune up because I have no idea how old it is. Old one is a Blue Streak and states use with external resistor and was installed with a condenser attached to the coil mount and connected to the coil positive terminal. The new one is a transistor coil I bought from Corvette Central with no statement about an external resistor.
Do I need to connect the old coil condenser to the new coil positive terminal or is it not necessary?
The coil capacitor was for radio shielding. The statement "use with external resistor" should be a resistor wire installed in the ignition circuit from the factory. Coil Capacitor

The new coil appears to be for a different application. Got any more details on what your setup is?
The coil is a Delco Remy 1115272 from Corvette Central. It’s listed as. Transistor Ignition coil for 68-71. Looking further at the box it warns it will be damaged if grounded by a radio capacitor. Further states it must not be installed in conjunction with a radio capacitor attached to either terminal.
So…..I will not hook up the capacitor and read better in the future. Good info for future reference.
Corvette Central listed multiple coils for the 68, this one seemed the best fit for the replacement of original equipment.
I’ll see how it performs with my stock ignition system and go from there.

Asking again for information. Do you have a Points or TI system?
Stock ignition point and condenser. I shouldn’t have ordered that coil but you can’t return electrical parts. I’ll put the Blue Streak back in till I order the non transistor coil from Corvette Central

You shouldn't have any trouble selling the TI coil at a later time, as it seems like they're in limited supply at times.
Just FYI; The TI coil needs higher current than a points coil to get the desired energy level in it, and a stock points setup will probably not allow the same higher current, but end up eating points in the process.
Corvette Central currently lists the coil as discontinued. Let me know if anyone wants it and I’ll sent it your way. It was a $140 coil but my mistake will be your gain.
Thanks everyone for the help.
Thanks for the advise. I assumed this Blue Streak coil wasn’t original and in need of replacement. I’ll take your advice and just go with it till it gives me problems.
That why I went Delco as I assumed that was the original manufacturer….just bought the wrong one. But I’m now concerned even the right Delco coil might be foreign crap.
