Default New used Vortec heads

I just purchased new heads for my 1976 l48. They are Vortec and are all done. Z28 springs in them and has lift up to .500. Does anyone have some suggestions on heads? I am curious what you guys are doing or have done with YOURS. Thanks.

I used to have these heads on my car 062 castings. They are great heads for the street and provide quite a power improvement from the stockers. I modded the valve guide myself for higher lift.....cut the guide so I could do .560" lift but my actual lift was .544" I also went with screw in studs, and 1.43 " valve springs, but you don't need to do that for the street.
Use a .015" steel shim head gasket and you'll get around 9.5 to 1 compression.

Get to work and have some fun

Reading further on I see you got them for $200 that's a really good deal for redone heads.

I have put a lot of work in my Vortec heads over the years. Valve guide bosses cut for .535/.550 lift cam, screw in studs, spring pockets enlarged, push rod holes enlarged for clearance with 1.6 rocker arms (using 1.52 rockers now), surface cut .010, 3 angle valve job, and pocket porting. With all this my car has run a best of 12.15 at 110 in the quarter (383 CI).
