Default Need help with pilot bearing

Engine builder forgot to install pilot bearing.
I have a scat crank 9000 series part number sct-9-350-3750-6000..
I would like to know what diameter the inside is.. or if you have the same crank with roller bearing did you use..

Digital calipers are cheap and will give you an exact measurement. Less than $10.

You may want to consider a solid bushing. The roller bearings seem to be more problematic. Consider National Bearings or similar. Solid brass, non-metallic.

there is really only one basic size pilot bushing-bearing. i doubt scat would make a different size bushing hole than OEM. their cust service would be somebody else ro check with.

All you have to do is buy a chevy pilot bearing. If you dial in a bell housing to less than .002 vert and .004 horizontal and don't have some sort of low TQ rating transmission "Small diameter input shaft" of having a pilot bearing becomes a moot point.

I have a strong 1.125 input shaft . When I pulled the engine and tranny the shaft never bent far enough to touch my roller bearing bushing. So it's also a kinda dumb argument on sollid VS roller. You don't want the shaft to be rubbing the pilot in the first place. It's an old idea from mass produced cars. They were assembled as close enough is good to go. Dialing in the bell housing is the key to not having problems!

We started using the pilot bearings years ago when somebody realized the pilot bearing from a diesel would fit in a Chevy V8. Seemed like a good idea at the time, and it was. However we are all familiar with the quality (or lack thereof) of the parts we are getting (out of China) nowadays and there is no shortage of stories about failed pilot bearings. I have gone back to bushings.
