Default Fan Clutch Movement

Hey guys, I am assuming the fan clutch it not supposed to move forwards and backwards on the shaft... Am I correct? Mine has about a 1/4" of play right now and that causes my fan blades to occasionally hit my spreader bar.

No, There should not be any forward and backward movement. May want to check you water pump as well....

What would this have to do with the water pump? It is definitely the clutch assembly where the movement is at, and not back from the water pump.

The vibration from the bad fan clutch can damage the seals/bearing in the water pump. It's easy enough to check for play in the water pump shaft when you are replacing the fan clutch
