1980 Headlight Vacuum Reservoir HELP
I'm reworking everything in the front nose of my 1980, and the vacuum reservoir was literally zip-tied in place by a previous owner. I thought I'd be able to look at it, figure out how it was supposed to be mounted and correct it. Nope! My books only have vague approximate location. Searched for posts with images on several sites without any luck. So I still have no real idea how to correctly mount it. I suspect I may be missing additional brackets.
Wanted to see if someone out there could take a few images of the reservoir mounted in their '80-82 to help me out?
Image of my vacuum reservoir and bracket. The bracket is roughly 19" long.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
Do you have copies of the shop manual and assembly manual?
I just checked, and I failed to take any photos when I pulled all of that stuff out. That bracket is correct, though. The coffee can is band-clamped to the spar, which runs down the center of the car. That's all there is to it.
@Richard454 sells a great electric headlight conversion kit that replaces all of the vacuum headlight stuff. That might be a THIS winter project, I ran out of time last winter.
Here's the only photo I could find that sorta shows where it was.
Looks like it bridges from the core support to the front nose. My core support is out which made it tough for me to visualize that. Should be easy to correct it once I get to that stage of reassembly.
Appreciate the help.
Regarding the electric conversion: I've read a few posts on the process and recognize the benefits. However, my lights operated rather well so I'm gonna save the money for another more needed expense.
Happy Vetting to all!
